Audi debuts global augmented reality pilot in Ireland

This short video offers an example of how Audi dealers in Ireland will be presenting their potential customers with augmented reality views of the car they are interested in, writes Brian Byrne . It's also a global first for Audi. Audi Ireland has teamed with Irish Irish experiential technology agency vStream to launch Audi’s first global pilot programme in Ireland. It uses Microsoft HoloLens, the world’s first self-contained, holographic computer, and enables customers to interact with holographic digital content to provide a better customer experience.

Car sales continue downward trend

New car registrations for the first three months of the year are 5.5pc down on the same period last year, writes Brian Byrne . Also, according to figures released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry, sales in March were down by 10.5pc against the same moth last year. SIMI says March was a 'challenging' trading month with tje combined effects of snow days and two public holidays in the same month. SIMI director general Alan Nolan says the Brexit effect remains 'dominant' with used car imports up 9.5pc for the quarter. Light commercial vehicles sales showed a continuing increase, currently up 5.4pc in the year to date. In cars, Volkswagen, Toyota and Hyundai were the biggest selling brands for the quarter.  The top model is the Nissan Qashqai, followed by Hyundai's Tucson and Volkswagen's Golf.
