Honda EV Concept wins Best Concept Car gong

An international panel of automobile experts has named the Honda Urban EV Concept as ‘The Best Concept Car’ in the renowned 2018 Car Design Award honours, presented as part of the Turin Motor Show, writes Trish Whelan . The Car Design Award finalists and winners are selected and judged by a jury comprised of 12 automotive journalists from the world’s most prestigious publications. The Honda Urban EV Concept was named as a finalist in April this year and was subsequently chosen as the overall concept car winner against nine other vehicle designs.   Honda revealed the Urban EV Concept at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The concept sets the direction for Honda’s first battery electric for Europe which will be introduced during late 2019. Low and wide proportions present a sporty stance while the styling incorporates slim A-pillars and a wide windscreen that appears to sweep around the entire front end of the cabin. Honda's 182 offers

Honda Ireland has released a catalogue of deals to encourage prospective buyers of new cars for the 182 registration period, writes Trish Whelan . They include a 3.9pc APR finance package across the brand's entire range. There's also a free service plan for diesel models, while all Jazz models will come with complimentary Road Tax. In addition, customers can choose from one of the following options, on CR-V models ... A free leather upgrade or €1,000 in a 'deal booster' or a €4,000 guaranteed trade-in value, or a complimentary Road Tax and Service plan. The offers apply to all cars bought before 30 June and registered by 30 July.

Skib rowers get new Honda training boat

Skibbereen Rowing Club has received a new training boat, courtesy of Honda Ireland, writes Trish Whelan . It was their prize for winning the Honda 'Powering Local Dreams' competition. The boat was launched on the River Ilen under the eye of John Saunders, sales and marketing director of Honda Ireland. The club has 50 athletes, an equal mix of girls and boys, and all will train in the new boat. Pictured are John Saunders; Alison Canavan, Honda Brand Ambassador; and representatives from the Honda Dealer network in Cork.
